Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Canada Family 2019
The Canada Family Vineyards consistently produce some of the most expressive Cabernet Sauvignon in Texas. Located in Plains, TX, roughly 6 miles from the New Mexico border, their vineyard sits atop a limestone shelf influencing the wine with subtle expressions of minerality.
The 2019 harvest has proven to be very successful in the quality of the fruit in Texas and the growing conditions showcased fairly temperate and balanced weather patterns in the High Plains that provided wonderful and lively tannic structure.
The nose of ripe red fruit compote, fresh soil, fresh and dried herbal spices, espresso and new leather develops into deep cacao, mesquite, bright red fruits, and roasted peppers that Cabernet Sauvignon is known to display. The palate of raspberry compote and smoked cherries, as well as hints of allspice and toasted brown sugar. Mid-palate is full, with well-structured tannins and rich notes of dark fruit and earth and finishing with lingering ripe fruit and spice notes ultimately proving that Texas can and does produce world class Cabernet Sauvignon.
Aromatics: Raspberry Jam, toasted brown sugar, bright ripe plum, mesquite, and smoked cherries.
On the Palate: Smoked cherries, chicory root, toasted caramel, raspberry compote, and hints of roasted hatch peppers
